Fire hazard in Timmins bordering on low to moderate

The forest fire hazard in Timmins is bordering low to moderate, but surrounding areas are at risk. If you’re out camping in the Foleyet or Chapleau areas be careful because the risk is rated high. Two new blazes were sparked this week, bringing the total in the North East to 10, with 7 of those in the far North. Elliot Lake and the Soo have the highest concern as their rating is sitting at extreme.

– Chapleau 3 is being held at 0.4 hectares and is located on an island in Gravelridge Lake south of Foleyet.
– Sudbury 37 and Bancroft 9 are now out at 0.1 hectare
– Sudbury 33 and Sudbury 36 are both under control at 0.2 hectares.
