Curley revives concerns about intersection

About a year and a half ago, city councillor John Curley raised concerns about the traffic lights at Hwy. 655 and Algonquin Blvd.  It was based on increased traffic as more businesses open on the south side of the intersection.

“Lo and behold,” he said at this week’s council meeting, “next week, the only liquor store in this whole city is located there.”

The LCBO outlet combining the stores in South Porcupine and Timmins opens on Tuesday.  So Curley now says it’s urgent.

“I’d like to see a change or a report brought back so we can have safe turning lanes. There is no safe left hand turns.”

Several other businesses in that development have opened in the last year or so, with more on the way.
