A local business is helping out the Anti Hunger Coalition with some of their sales. Just Naturals is selling a bar of soap called Greater Good, and are donating the proceeds to ACT. Executive Director of the Anti Hunger Coalition, Michelle Goulet, says the donation goes beyond just money.
“I think it just feeds into the partnerships that we find very important to establish in the community,” explains Goulet.”Not just to get some donations, but to really build up other organizations to recruit volunteers.”
Goulet says that will help move their main goal forward, which is to make sure everyone has access to healthy and nutritious food. She says the money will go towards their costs.
“This donation will help with transportation and overhead costs for our Good Food Box program, because we are paying for a vehicle to deliver all of the food boxes.”
The Good Food Boxes are filled with fresh foods, and come in two sizes: family ($20) or senior ($12). They are available at a discounted rate, around 30% less than you would pay for the same items in stores. You can get them at a variety of places around town, including the Timmins Native Friendship Centre, Community Living, Collège Boréal, and Northern College.
The first donation to ACT was for $810, and Goulet says it will also help with promos and renting a location to build the boxes. You can buy the Greater Good soap at Just Naturals Holistic Spa, on Balsam.
