Cameras catch suspect in the act

The frustrated owner of a Riverside Drive sporting goods store is hoping a united front among Timmins retailers helps curb shoplifting.

Dan Perrier of Dumoulin’s has high-definition video of the latest in a long line of incidents at his store. It catches a nervous looking man in the act last weekend .

“You can tell he’s looking around, making sure nobody is seeing him and he’s stuffing his jacket,” says Perrier.

It’s a hoodie and a pair of pants he stuffed into his jacket.  A camera near the door got a good shot of his face as he left.

Perrier’s looking forward to a meeting with Timmins Police, the BIA and the Chamber of Commerce to discuss theft prevention as a group. He says having merchandise walk out the door gets expensive for retailers.

“It’s an ongoing issue in Timmins and I believe every retail business is going through this.”

The photo was snapped by a camera at the door. (Photo supplied)
