Johnny Toronto brings his schtick for kids to Timmins and Cochrane, and it’s free

As part of the Timmins Comedy Festival, a free comedy show just for kids is coming to Timmins and Cochrane at the end of next month.

You might recognize Johnny Toronto from Santa’s Village in Bracebridge.

“He is not the main act at Santa’s Village. Santa is the main act at Santa’s Village,” emphasizes comedy festival chair Rick Lemieux. He says Johnny Toronto dresses loudly.  He does things like riding a unicycle and juggling, while making the audience laugh.

“And he talks to the kids about being different and that it’s okay to be different,” Lemieux outlines. “You don’t have to be like everybody else. You be you.”

Both shows are free, says Lemieux. “The one in Timmins, DARE Timmins is paying for it and the same thing in Cochrane. The DARE board for the OPP are paying for that one in Cochrane.”

DARE is the program for kids about smart choices that stands for Define, Assess, Respond and Evaluate

The Timmins show is April 29th at 5:30pm at Timmins Square.  The Cochrane event is the next day at 12:15pm at the Empire Theatre.
