Timmins Police believe Toronto man is only person involved in Schumacher homicide

An arrest has been made in the homicide in Schumacher early last September 23rd. One man was shot dead in a Father Costello Dr. apartment.  A man and a woman were both wounded.

Timmins Police Inspector Darren Dinel says investigators are confident that 24-year-old Jahrelle Bishop of Toronto is the only suspect. The arrest was made this past Tuesday.

“He was arrested at his residence in Toronto during the early morning hours,” says Dinel. “He has been charged with second degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, as well as other criminal offences relating to this incident.”

Insp. Dinelle was asked at a news conference this morning about the statement at the time of the incident that the local drug subculture was involved.

“During the search of the scene of the homicide,” he replied, “drugs were seized from that location. I can also confirm that drugs were seized from the residence of Mr. Bishop when he was arrested and taken into custody.”

Dinel adds that investigators are putting that into context to decide whether trafficking charges are warranted against the suspect or two surviving victims.

The shooting took place in a back apartment at 85 Father Costello Dr.
