Museum exhibit in solidarity with Ukrainian community locally and internationally

In a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian community locally and internationally… the Timmins Museum has mounted an exhibit.  It’s on the Timmins Wall of the permanent gallery.

Director-curator Karen Bachmann says it features artifacts from the museum’s collection… and from the former Ukrainian Historical and Cultural Museum on Mountjoy Street.

“It just highlights a little bit about what the Ukrainian culture has brought to Timmins in terms of the richness of the culture itself and the crafts and the people that make up the community,” she remarks, noting how large the Timmins Ukrainian community is.

“We have a lot of woodwork that was donated to us by a collector in the community and it’s really quite spectacular, because it features everything from Easter eggs to icon holders to little whimsical mushrooms and all kinds of good things.”

You can see the artifacts and learn about the Ukrainian community during museum hours. Admission is always free.
