The free ride is over. If your driver’s licence expired during the pandemic, it’s time to renew it. So says Timmins Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie.
“As of March 1st, all persons who are now the holders of an expired driver’s licence, it’s incumbent on them to take the necessary steps to get the renewal process started.”
Among other reasons, that’s a good idea just in case you ever have to show your licence to a police officer.
“So in the absence of holding a document that shows that your exemption was further applied,” Depatie adds, “then the officers may very well, depending on the circumstances of course, lay the charge of driving without a licence.”
Renewals are available online or at Service Ontario in the 101 Mall.
