A bird walk is one of five features on Sunday, when the Wintergreen Fund for Conservation puts on its Winter Hiking Day at Hersey Lake.
Roxane Filion will guide the bird walk. She’ll help identify various birds and talk about how they cope with the Timmins winter.
“Birds usually go south for the winter, but we do have over 40 species that stay her,” Filion notes. “They survive winter and they’re fascinating.”
She recommends bringing a couple items to help spotting birds.
“Binoculars is a good thing to bring. Cameras also. If you’re into photography birds and later on you have a souvenir of the birds you saw or try to ID it. So it’s a good idea also.”
