Latest lockdown won’t have much impact on city services in Timmins: Mayor

Ontario goes under COVID-19 lockdown at midnight, and Timmins Mayor George Pirie says there will be minimal impact on city services. The most significant is the closure of arenas, the Sportsplex swimming pool and the museum.

“Service Timmins has been operating at 50% (customer capacity), so there’s no real issue there,” Pirie notes.

Both library branches are also reduced to 50% capacity. City council meetings on the 11th and 25th of this month will be virtual, and Pirie says there will be no changes to garbage pick-up or snow clearing.

His advice: “Let’s get through this.”
