You don’t have to worry about where you park your car in Timmins tonight.
When he was first elected in 2018, Councillor Rock Whissell spearheaded a bylaw that provides for free parking on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
“Tonight, anybody that wants to enjoy a few cocktails with their friends or family, they’re allowed to leave their vehicles either on the street in the public municipal parking lots,” he says. “No tickets, no tow away tonight. Don’t drink and drive. We’re trying to make it safe for everybody. Try to enjoy the evening that we’re looking forward to tonight. Might not be big crowds, at least enjoy and spend quality time with your family and friends.”
