Vigil planned for Christmas Eve to remember people lost to fentanyl

A Christmas Eve candlelight vigil is planned for behind Northern College, by the group called “No More”.

Founder Lou Lemieux says her group supports families of overdose victims, and is campaigning to end the fentanyl crisis.

Lemieux has lost 17 people close to her to fentanyl. She says the vigil is a time to pay tribute to them.

“We think that behind Northern College because of the lake back there, we think it’s going to be really pretty, the scenery around Northern College,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

“Everybody is free to attend. You don’t have to be a member of No More. If you’ve lost someone to fentanyl, we encourage you to come. It’s going to be all of us grieving together.”

Some candles will be available, but it’s a good idea to bring your own.

The vigil is set for 8:00-9:00pm. Lemieux says no collection will be taken, but donations to the “No More” are welcome.  She says they’re used for a weekly meal she puts on at Living Space.
