Truckload of winter warmth items delivered to Living Space by Timmins Rock

When Liam Wells scored the first goal of the Timmins Rock game against Kirkland Lake this past Sunday afternoon, a pick-up truck load of toques, scarves and other winter wear rained down onto the ice at the Mac.

Those items were delivered to Living Space on the first full day of winter.  Director of operations Robin Maj says they’re very important to the homeless shelter.

“We go through hats, mitts, gloves, scarves, coats every day,” she told My Timmins Now Dot Com.  “And it’s very important to keep our guests warm through the elements of winter. So we are very appreciative of this donation.”

The Rock called the event “the first annual toque toss”, promising to do it every year.

Maj noted how the weather during the presentation underlined the need for the items. “It’s so cold out there today and frostbite is definitely a problem with a lot of our guests, and this will help and go a long way.”

The wind chill at the time was minus-31.
