Starting this coming Monday, December 13th, anyone 50 or older can book their appointment with the Porcupine Health Unit for a third, or booster shot of COVID-19 vaccine.
PHU chief nursing officer Chantal Riopel says the delay has been to allow as many kids between five and eleven as possible to get their first shots.
“They have no protection whatsoever,” she notes, “as the vaccine was only approved for them earlier in November and have only had the opportunity to get their vaccine in the last couple of weeks.”
“Third doses for our older individuals is not urgent and they already do have two doses, which provides them with a really good protection against a serious illness and hospitalization.”
When you book your appointment online, you’ll see when and where appointments are available. Make sure it’s at least 168 days since shot number 2.
