City police are treating a body found in the back yard of an apartment building Sunday morning as a case of foul play, at least until they can rule it out.
Paramedics called them to the scene on Avenue Road, where the male body was.
Police communications coordinator Marc Depatie says an autopsy will be scheduled.
A situation like this is always assumed to be the result of foul play.
“This is wholly contingent on the findings that will either be supported or eliminated by the coroner’s final report,” says Depatie.
“It’s tough to put a clock on it. They work at their own pace. Thoroughness is demanded here. We want to make sure that we don’t overlook anything. But it is proceeding at a fairly healthy pace.”
The man’s name won’t be released until then, and family is notified.
Depatie says there’s no reason for concern about public safety.
As usual, anyone with information is asked to call Timmins Police or Crime Stoppers.
