The people, businesses and industries of Timmins came through in a big way yesterday… supporting the Moose FM-Schumacher Lions Club Feeding Families Radiothon for the Stan Fowler Santa Claus Fund.

Chairman John McCauley says that as of noon, even more money had come in since we shut down at six o’clock last night. “We’re sitting at $46,255. That feeds 370 families.”

If you’re one of the families expecting a grocery voucher to be delivered on Saturday, December 18th, make sure you’re at home between 10:00am and 1:00pm.

“We require an ID just to make sure we’re delivering to the right person,” says McCauley.

The voucher is good until December 31st at any grocery store in town for any grocery items – diapers, for example.

“Cigarettes and alcohol, because some of the stores do sell alcohol now,” emphasizes McCauley, “they’re strictly forbidden and it says so on the vouchers.”

This was the fifth year of the joint project of Moose 93.1 and the Lions.  We look forward to many more.
