Karen Bachmann awarded for career achievement by Ont. Museum Assoc.

For most of the last four decades, Karen Bachmann has been the face and voice of art and history in Timmins.  Now she’s being recognized for her work here and elsewhere by the Ontario Museum Association.

It has granted her its award of distinction for career achievement.

Surprised and shocked but happy, the director-curator of the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre admits the “career achievement” moniker makes her feel old.

“It makes me feel really old,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.  “And then it made me think I’ve been in this business for 35 years now, so it definitely is making me feel old. But I’m not finished yet, so this is a good thing.”

“I’ve had the pleasure to work with so many wonderful people all throughout the past 35 years. I’ve met so many people, I’ve played with all kinds of exhibitions.  I’ve really had a lot of fun.”

Bachmann says  that’s rare sometimes, and quips that in her case, it might be illegal.
