Thanks for your generosity, Timmins! from Socks Timmins and Moose 93.1

The counting has yet to be done, and it could take a while.  The response to the Socks Timmins/Moose 93.1 sock campaign during the Downtown Timmins Santa Claus Parade is overwhelming.  We filled the back of the Moose Cruiser during the parade.

Socks Timmins coordinator Carol Halt says the socks will be counted early in the week by students of Roland Michener Secondary School, several of whom walked in the parade along with us, helping accumulate the donations along the route.

“So once we count and sort the socks,” says Halt, “we’ll be distributing them to the Timmins Food Bank, the South Porcupine Food Bank, the Lord’s Kitchen, Timmins Native Friendship Centre, the First Baptist Church, Living Space and Project Love.”

“We haven’t been able to collect socks for two years due to the pandemic,” Halt continues. “So this has been absolutely amazing and the community needs it and they came out. Everybody supported us and we’re very appreciative.”

If you missed the parade and still want to donate men’s, women’s or children’s new socks, you can drop them off at Moose 93-1 weekdays from 9:00am until 4:30pm at 49 Cedar St. S.
