Algonquin Blvd. reopens this afternoon between Thériault Blvd. and the river

Your ride home from work tonight will be the smoothest it’s been in six months. Algonquin Blvd. between Thériault Blvd. and the Mattagami bridge reopened early this afternoon.

City of Timmins public works manager Ken Krcel says all that’s left to do in the connecting link reconstruction project is a bit of restoration on side streets.  That will happen next week.

Still, he urges you to drive carefully.

“It’s going to be tempting to, you know, your speed’s probably going to want to pick up on a smooth stretch of road,” he observes.

Krcel says it’s especially important with a few workers still in the area.

“You know, a little bit of patience until it’s fully open and we’re off the road will go a long way.”

It’s expected that next summer, the work will move to the east, between Thériault Blvd and Mountjoy St.
