The New Democratic MPP for Timmins has marked Small Business Week by going to bat in the legislature for the local Chamber of Commerce and its members.

Gilles Bisson says the businesses need more government funding to help them cope with the pandemic.  He says it’s taking a toll on their bottom line, and gives them the added expense of screening.

“…Which is a good thing. Businesses in my community as yours understand why this is necessary, but there is a certain amount of cost associated to it. And their traffic is down. They don’t have the amount of business that they had before,” Bisson noted.

“These businesses are the backbone to our community. I think we all understand that and we need to make sure that we provide them with the support that’s necessary to allow them to get through this particular phase of the pandemic.”
