Library opens robotics class to girls

The Timmins Public Library now says a robotics session it`s holding later this month will be open to both boys and girls.  Earlier a young Timmins girl who wanted to take the session was told it was only for boys.  The story got a bit of attention through social media with Cash Cayen starting a petition to get the library to change its mind.   In a matter of days more than one thousand people signed Cash`s petition saying the library should change its position.  On the heels of this comes a short news release from the chair of the library board.  Michael Doody says the July 20th robotics session will be open to boys and girls aged nine to 12.  Doody is also apologizing to the public and Science Timmins over the misunderstanding the incident created.  Parents now need to register their kids by calling 360-2623, extension 8519.  Space for the robotics class is limited.
