Hospital foundation launches hero program

The Timmins and District Hospital Foundation has launched a combined fundraising and recognition program called “Hospital Hero”.

Executive director Jason Laneville says if you experience something very positive with anyone working at the hospital, a donation will provide that person with a pin recognizing their hero status.

“Recipients could be doctors, nurses, cleaning staff, security, dietary aides, etc., etc., etc.,” he outlines. “The list of hardworking hospital staff here are endless for sure.”

Gabe Provost is the driving force behind the initiative.  The first recipients are ER and ICU manager Kim Bazinet and Dr. Dr. Yves Raymond. Provost says he started the program because the hospital has been there for him.

“I would not be here today if it wouldn’t be for this guy, that girl over there, for all of you being here,” he exclaims.

Provost is an honorary life member of the hospital foundation.
