New Chamber president vows to continue advocacy for Timmins and region

Timmins Chamber of Commerce president Rob Knox says he’s not out to reinvent the wheel.

Knox was sworn in Wednesday night to lead the business organization for the next year.

Speaking to the Chamber’s 72nd dinner and annual general meeting, he said the body will continue to be a conduit of information for business.  And after a few years on the advocacy committee, he said that will continue to be a priority.

“We will continue to advocate at all levels of government for the betterment of our city, but also for the betterment regionally in this part of Northern Ontario,” Knox vowed.

The new president recalled the days of the Chamber being an old boys’ club. Today, he said, it’s anything but, and he has the distinct pleasure of leading it.

“This energetic team of smart and engaged people with a variety of completely disparate backgrounds with a common goal.”
