About a month earlier than in the past and in a different location, “Welcome to Timmins Night” is ready for this year’s event.
Shashanka Rangi is the local immigration partnership coordinator at the Timmins and District Multicultural Centre. She says it’s between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, Wednesday, August 18th on Third Avenue.
“The committee has decided to make it an outdoor event this year, due to COVID-19,” Rangi explains. “It would be easy to social distance and people spread out a little bit on the street.”
In the past, there have been as many as 120 non-profit organizations exhibiting what they have to offer new residents and long-timers.
“It’s for all the community members and especially for the newcomers to Timmins, to give them an understanding of our local service providers and what’s available in Timmins. But it’s for everyone. The whole community is welcome to attend the event.”
Kirkland Lake Gold is the major sponsor. Rangi says everyone who attends will be eligible for prizes it’s putting up.
