FedNor cuts could hurt Northern farmers

The MP for Timmins – James Bay is concerned that cuts to FedNor will hurt an inter-provincial agricultural festival. Charlie Angus is worried that fewer food producers will participate in the food festival which takes annually in Ville Marie, Quebec.

Each year northern food producers head to the agricultural festival, which helps boost the north’s economy. But Angus says the number of participants has been dropping since 2011.

Angus blames the drop on ongoing cuts on FedNor which has paid for the festival in the past. Angus says the ongoing festival cuts are another example of the Harper Tories undermining economic development in the north.

Angus says FedNor has been a strong supporter of the festival in the past but now it appears festival funding will disappear.
