Paramedics a big part of the vaccination effort across Cochrane District

Almost anywhere you go for a COVID-19 vaccination, you’ll likely encounter paramedics.

Cochrane District EMS deputy chief Marc Renaud says it’s a way of showing support with people who are trained to administer a vaccination.

And medics have participating in pop-up vaccination clinics in parking lots… and at drive-through events.  That’s been mostly in Timmins so far, but will branch out.

“We are planning a drive-through in Kapuskasing in support of the family health team,” he notes, “and we do hope to be able to do some of these events in other communities as well.”

Renaud offers one more reason that EMS is helping out.

“The more vaccines we get in arms, the sooner we’re out of our emergency and it’ll prevent us from going back into an emergency.”
