Forty forest firefighters from Alberta are helping battle three out-of-control blazes in the MNRF Cochrane sector.
Forest fire information officer Isabelle Chenard says six helicopters are also participating.
“Cochrane 15”, the fire we told you about on Monday, covers 140 hectares about 50 kilometres east of Cochrane. Heavy equipment is establishing a dozer line and fire rangers are setting up a hose line.
Another fire is about three-hundred hectares, southwest of Lower and Upper Serpent Lakes.
“Favourable weather conditions reduced fire activity over the past few days, so good progress is being made,” says Chenard.
Yet another blaze covering 82 hectares is ten kilometres east of Highway 652 and west of Singer Lake.

Chenard says the hazard remains low to high in our region.
“As always, we’re reminding Ontarians if you’re encountering smoke or flames in a wildland area, please do report it to us by dialling 310-FIRE if you’re located north of the French and Mattawa Rivers, so in your area.”
South of those rivers, you can report fires by calling 9-1-1.
