The time has come for certain 12- to 15-year-olds who got their first COVID-19 vaccine at least 28 days ago to book an appointment for their second shot.
Youth 12 to 15 years of age who are eligible for a shortened dose interval include those:
- With identified medical conditions:
o Transplant recipients
o Individuals with malignant hematologic disorders and non-hematologic malignant solid tumors receiving active treatment (e.g. chemotherapy, radiation)
o Recipients of hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
- Who are Urban Indigenous or live with an Indigenous person
- Who reside in First Nation communities
- Who are health care workers
- Who are essential and critical retail workers o grocery, foodbank and non-clinical pharmacy workers and restaurant workers
These groups are in addition to:
- Adults who are 18 and older – Pfizer or Moderna
- Individuals who are 16 and 17 years of age – Pfizer only
