Virtual fireworks? Yes, on Canada Day, presented by Tourism Timmins

Your chance to see virtual fireworkscomes as part of a weeklong online celebration of Canada Day, Native Indigenous Peoples Day, St. Jean Baptiste and Multicultural Day.

Special events coordinator Marnie Lapierre says it’s all being staged by Tourism Timmins through an app called “Snapd”.

“This app is so unique,” she explains, “that you can take your device outside and flip your camera around and whatever you view is your background, your campsite, your apartment, you hit play on July 1st because that’s when they go live and you now have your fireworks presentation.”

The tourism office can help you download the app.  If you only have a desktop, there’s a YouTube link.

“It just unfortunately won’t have that fireworks option to it,” Lapierre says. “But if you’re stuck inside a desktop, then at least you have a little something to play in the background throughout that week.”

The online presentation runs 24 hours a day, starting this coming Sunday morning.
