McIntyre headframe will stand for years to come, council approves restoration project

The most iconic landmark in Timmins will undergo extensive work, to ensure that it stands on the north shore of Pearl Lake for many years to come.

City council has agreed to a McIntyre headframe restoration project worth $520,000.

Engineers have recommended structural and other improvements on the headframe, which is almost  100 years old.  Local business Cy Rheault Construction is the lead contractor.

Federal heritage funding is paying most of the cost.  The city’s share is about $139,000.00.
