Timmins Pride Week kicks off this weekend, with some highly anticipated events. There is a live roller derby match, and a documentary about a transgender girl from Timmins on Saturday. The official flag rising and proclamation is on Monday at City Hall. Mayor Steve Black says Timmins can help set an example for the region.
“Everyone’s equal and important, and Pride is a great festival to get that point across,” says Black. “I think as one of the regional hubs for North Eastern Ontario it’s important that we lead those celebrations, and have a place for everyone in the region to come celebrate.”
