UPDATE TUES., MAY 18: Provincial police now identify the victim as 35-year-old Nathanial Carroll.
A 35-year-old canoeist is dead as the result of a capsizing late Friday afternoon.
South Porcupine OPP were called shortly before 4:30pm to the Frederickhouse River in Connaught. With the help of the Timmins Fire Dept., the canoeist was found, unresponsive and was pronounced dead at hospital.
Police say “A six year old person was safely brought to shore.”
The name of the victim and the genders of both people involved will not be released until next of kin are notified.
