April and May impaired driving charges released

The Timmins Police has released their impaired driving numbers for April and May. Over the course of two months, six drivers were charged. Everyone charged was over the age 40, and ranged from Timmins to New Brunswick residents. Police maintain that their goal is zero drinking and driving charges.

From the Timmins Police:

On April 3, 2015, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police received a report from a resident of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Commercial/Preston Sts. Police located the driver and noted signs of impairment upon speaking to him. Following investigation, a 59 year oild man from Timmins was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

On April 19, 2015, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Timmins Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Elm St. S. Upon speaking to the driver, the officer noted signs of impairment. Following investigation, A 48 year old man of Nigadoo, New Brunswick, was charged with impaired driving and care and control of a vehicle while impaired.

On April 25, 2015, at approximately 3:00 p.m., police received a report of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Elm St. and Algonquin Blvd. Upon arriving on scene, police located the driver and noted signs of impairment. Following investigation, a 41 year old man from Timmins was charged with care and control of a vehicle while impaired and failing to provide a breath sample.

On May 3, 2015, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police located a driver in the area of Ross Ave in Timmins. Upon speaking to the driver, police noted signs of impairment. Following investigation, a 49 year old from Timmins was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.

On May 14, 2015 at approximately 3:20 p.m., police received a report of a collision in the area of Wende St. involving a suspected impaired driver. Upon attending the scene and speaking to the driver, police noted signs of impairment. A man, 53, from Timmins was charged with impaired driving, driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, and start from stopped position not in safety pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

On May 17, 2015, at approximately 9:00 p.m., police received a report regarding a suspected impaired driver in the area of Haileybury Crescent. Police located the driver of the vehicle and noted signs of impairment. A 48 year old man, of Timmins, was charged with care and control of a vehicle while impaired, and driving with more than 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood. He was also charged with possession of a Schedule II substance, possession of a Schedule I substance (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) as well as driving a motor vehicle with no license (Highway Traffic Act.)
