News Too early to tell if the bear hunt will help with numbers SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Wednesday, May. 27th, 2015 The bear hunt pilot project has begun. This is the second year the province is allowing hunters to harvest bears. The goal is lower the number of bears that come into residential areas. The Timmins Police say they have fewer calls this year compared to last. But, the MNR says that could be for a variety of reasons and may not mean there are less bears. The hunt goes until June 15th. When it’s over, the MNR will look at the numbers to see if the hunt is effective.
