Handi Trans service is expanding

Timmins City Council could satisfy an injustice, according to one councillor. Joe Campbell is once again pushing for the expansion of the Handi-Trans service. He claims it wouldn’t cost taxpayers a lot, and it could benefit the community.

“At some point in time we’re going to have to address an ageing population,” says Campbell. “Now is this the first step? I hope it is. I hope it shows that isn’t really that great a cost; we can move on to a smaller phase and gradually properate the city over a long period of time.”

The first phase would have the service expanded to Delnite, Fairway Village, Buffalo Ankerite, McDonald Hill and Gold Mine Road. That will start on July 1st.

Council will then review how that goes, and look into the cost and practicality of expanding the service farther out starting in January.
