Humane society gets in on 50-50 trend

Abused, neglected and abandoned animals will be the real winners of the Timmins and District Humane Society’s monthly 50-50 draws.

Executive director Alicia Santamaria says one draw will happen every month for the next 12 months. She adds that the society has had good returns from 50-50 draws in the past; and because of the pandemic, it hasn’t been able to do its usual in-person fundraising.

“We had a lot of our supporters and volunteers kind of urging us to go in this direction, too,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com. “ So we saw that there was some support there and we decided to go with it.”

“The first draw is going to be March 26th and the early bird draw is happening before that, on March 18th.”

The humane society is still looking for sponsors to provide cash or gift card prizes for the early bird draws.  You can buy your tickets through this link.
