News Ice fishing hut left in smouldering ruins SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Tuesday, Feb. 23rd, 2021 The ruins of an ice fishing hut on Porcupine Lake Monday night. (Timmins Fire Dept.) An ice fishing hut on Porcupine Lake burned down last night. The fire department was called to the scene off Dead Man’s Point shortly before 9:00pm. By the time firefighters got to it, it was little more than burning debris on the ice. No one was hurt. Deputy Chief Ellard Beaven says the OPP are investigating, and trying to find the hut’s owners.
