News Add another COVID-19 to PHU territory; variant testing comes back negative SHARE ON: Bob McIntyre, staff Sunday, Feb. 14th, 2021 The Porcupine Health Unit region now has 307 COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic. It reported one new case on Sunday. It says it’s in the Hearst-Hornepayne area, and part of an institutional outbreak. PHU doesn’t make the direct connection, but it also announced yesterday an outbreak at Foyer des Pionniers. It’s the long-term care wing of Notre Dame Hospital in Hearst. In such a setting, one case is considered an outbreak. At the same time, the health unit says that testing on the suspected coronavirus variant at Extendicare Kapuskasing has come back negative.
