MOH addresses what might be next

The medical officer of health for this region doesn’t know where we’ll land next Tuesday, when Premier Ford announces the next steps in easing COVID-19 restrictions.

The Porcupine Health Unit’s Dr. Lianne Catton does say, however, that we can’t be too cautious

“We also know that the public health measures and some of the requirements to do this will also remain in place and may still be enhanced further,” she notes.

In fact, what you’ve been wearing as an anti-COVID-19 face covering might not be acceptable anymore. Catton says a face mask is now the only one allowed, as long it covers your nose, mouth and chin. “Not bandanas or gaiters, any of the other items that we’ve seen and sort of have allowed in the past.  That is definitely changed.”

Catton adds that she’s still awaiting results of genome sequencing, to confirm whether a variant of the coronavirus was in a COVID-19 test at Extendicare Kapuskasing. That will determine whether it’s the U.K., Brazilian or South African mutation, and how it got to Kap.
