The Mattagami Water plant is going to cost tax payers more money. Council approved a plan to have an external auditor come in to look at what happened with the project that went over budget.
Over $130, 000Â will go into the external audit, which Councillor Joe Campbell says is a normal procedure for such a large project. He says they picked the company Deloitte based on cost and time.
“The one thing that we really looked at was the time frame here,” says Campbell. “And Deloitte’s was relatively concise in eight weeks, so we can get this over with.”
The audit will look at different aspects of the plant, like if there was compliance with the city’s project management policy, and if there was enough management on site.
The project is around $6 million over budget.
