Federal government hiring census workers

A hiring blitz is on to fill 166 temporary jobs between Hearst and Kirkland Lake for the 2021 Census of Canada.

Director-general Geoff Bowlby says most of the work will be in May and June, for supervisors and enumerators.

“What an enumerator does is knock on doors and makes phone calls to remind people to respond to the census or they might conduct the actual interview of the census, fill out the form with the person,” he outlines.

Bowlby adds that at the height of the enumeration, the work week will be between 20 and 40 hours a week.

“For an enumerator, it’s about $18.00 an hour – a little less than that, $17.83. A supervisor will make about $22.00 per hour.”

The work will be in May and June, and while you might go out occasionally, it’s based from your home.  You can find more details and apply here.
