Non-profits in Timmins are working together for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Timmins and Area Women in Crisis Center wants to raise awareness, saying sexual violence is an ongoing problem.
The month has events going on throughout the city, including having survivors of sexual assault take part in a photo gallery to post online. It will highlight statistics of sexual violence. Women can choose to cover their face, or not, for the photo. The gallery is part of this month’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
They are also bringing back the purple scarf campaign, planning school presentations, and doing Chalk the Walk. That will have anti-sexual assault messages written in chalk on sidewalks around town.
