No foul play or accident suspected in worker’s death at Lake Shore West mine

The death at the Lake Shore West mine site Friday afternoon was what police refer to as a “vital signs absent” call.

Fifty-five-year-old heavy equipment operator Craig Harrell of Timmins was working for a contractor at the six-hundred-foot-level. Timmins Police say his body was discovered at about 3:15pm New Year’s Day.  He was pronounced dead while en route to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance.

Investigators say there is no reason to suspect an accident or foul play.
