Still a while before we can be vaccinated against coronavirus: MOH

It will be several weeks if not longer before vaccination against COVID-19 begins in our district. Porcupine Health Unit medical officer of health Dr. Lianne Catton says planning for it is ongoing.

“We are not likely going to see vaccines locally until later in January and then we are looking at how that is rolled out,” she remarks.

Catton adds that the plan will be based on priorities set nationally, so it will take time.

“We need to be patient with the measures and recognize that it will take time for that herd immunity, that 75% of the population to be vaccinated.”

That’s the point at which Catton says we can start to change how we’ve been functioning since the arrival of the pandemic.
