UPDATE AT 12:30pm: Hydro One says that at about 10:30am, it experienced an outage affecting 1,500 customers.  It was caused by what it calls “third party equipment”.  Power was restored to all customers by 11:20am.

We’re not sure how many people and buildings are affected, but witnesses have told our newsroom of a hydro transformer explosion around mid-morning, in the area of Algonquin Boulevard and Highway 655.

We’re awaiting official word from the media relations department at Hydro One on how long the electricity will be off.  Keep an eye on My Timmins Now Dot Com for the latest.
