News Looking for a way to give back to the community? Check out this fair. SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Thursday, May. 7th, 2015 The Timmins Chamber is having a Community Volunteer Fair today. 20 local non profits will be at the NEOFACS office this afternoon, from 3 until 6. The event tries to connect local organizations with people who are looking to donate time. Dave McLaughlin, chair of the Chamber’s Non-Profits Committee, says the fair is a great chance for them to see how they make a real difference in a way that personally interests them. From the Timmins Chamber: “There are so many people in Timmins who are interested in taking an active role in their community but don’t know what options are available and which groups are in need of aid,” said McLaughlin, who also serves as the manager of the Canadian Cancer Society – Timmins Community Office. “We’ve seen those same questions from a wide range of folks, including students looking to fulfill their community services requirements. By serving as a one-stop shop, the Community Volunteer Fair is a great chance for them to see how they make a real difference in a way that personally interests them, so we invite the public to make the most of it.” The NEOFACS office is at 707 Ross, across from the hospital. Non-profits who will be at the Volunteer Fair are as follows: Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine District Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins Canadian Cancer Society Canadian Diabetes Association Cochrane District Crime Stoppers Downtown Timmins BIA Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration/Volunteer Services North Eastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS) Rotary Club of Timmins-Porcupine/Ribfest Science Timmins Inc.
