Illegally shot moose prompts investigation

The Ministry of Natural Resources is looking for hunters who illegally shot a moose. They are asking for the public’s help in finding out who the poachers are.

The pregnant moose was shot last Wednesday along Kamiskotia Road. When the MNR found her alive, the wound in her neck was too severe to be fixed, and they had to put her down.  The calf fetus was also lost.

Investigation showed she was shot in the neck and the spine, at around 7 AM on April 29th. Anyone with information can get in touch with the MNR, or can call Crime Stoppers.

MNRF TIPS line: 1-877-847-7667
Crime Stoppers: 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

You can also call the ministry’s Timmins district office during regular business hours at 705-235-1300.
