Firearm incident has Timmins intersection cordoned off by police

It appears that someone has been injured during an ongoing incident at Rea St. and Bannerman Ave. in Timmins.
Police say that intersection is closed, because of an incident involving a firearm early this morning.
The clue that someone is hurt comes from the line in the news release that “the province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate in regards to this event.”  Because of that, any and all updates will come from the SIU.  Its mandate is to investigate incidents involving police “where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. “
Timmins Police are asking anyone with viable information into this morning’s incident to call them at 705-264-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
