Regional YMCA manager Courtney Berlinghoff says it’s called “Amazing Me”. “And it focusses on confidence, positive self esteem, healthy participation, coaching, proper technique, mindfulness, vision boarding and goal setting,” she explains. Three age groups: ten and eleven years old, 12 to 14 and 15 and 16 will get a one-hour session each week. Berlinghoff reiterates that the program will build self-confidence and positive body image. “I think there are a lot of girls in sport,,” she remarks. “but this is kind of to help the ones that may not feel like they’re quite ready to take that jump.” Registration information is on the Y’s Facebook page or by phone at 705-360-4381.
