TSO organizing ‘A Taste of Italy’

How about a trip to Italy without leaving your living room?  That’s what the Timmins Symphony Orchestra is setting out to do, with a livestream on Saturday, November 7th.

Director Josh Wood says he’s put together an ensemble of 25 musicians to stay within COVID-19 protocols, for a concert called “A Taste of Italy”.

“We’re doing things like the Godfather theme; the Tchaikovsky arrangement of Romeo and Juliet; Funiculi Funicula; the famous Italian Tarantella,” he says, outlining part of the program, “so lots of Italian favourites.”

Soprano Kathleen Promane and mezzo soprano Lauri-Ann Loreto-Neal will perform vocal solos.

And making it a real taste of Italy, the Dante Club is offering a special take-out meal.

It’s impossible to charge an admission fee, but Wood says you can donate to the orchestra.

“We will have a link provided to our Canada Helps page, which is a really, really easy way to donate. You just go to the Canada Helps page, enter your name, credit card information, they send you a tax receipt.”

You can also donate by mail, or at the TSO office.

The concert begins at 7:00pm.
